Optimized Hormones
What should I expect at my first visit?
During your first visit to our office at Optimized Hormones, you can expect to have a sit-down conversation with an Advanced Certified Hormone Health provider. This one-on-one discussion is designed for you to openly share information about how you are feeling and what led you to seek our services. We prioritize your comfort and encourage honesty throughout the conversation, as the information you provide will guide our recommendations. We will carefully listen to your concerns, discuss your medical history, and delve into the factors that brought you to us.
Following the clinical consultation, our director of patient services will join you to ensure your understanding of the recommendations and treatment plan. They will take the time to answer any questions you may have and guide you through the next steps. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive and personalized approach to your care, empowering you with knowledge and support throughout your journey towards hormone optimization and women’s health.
Do I have to get blood work before my first visit and can I bring my own?
While we highly recommend that patients bring any relevant medical records and lab reports to their first visit at Optimized Hormones, we do require blood work to be completed beforehand. Our approach to healthcare is comprehensive and focused on specific panels that are sometimes overlooked in traditional or primary care settings. To streamline the process, your patient liaison will schedule your lab appointments for you approximately 7-10 days prior to your office visit. This timeframe allows sufficient time for the results to be processed and for you to complete your health history and intake forms. By ensuring that the necessary blood work is completed before your visit, we can provide a thorough assessment and personalized care tailored to your specific needs.
Can I use my insurance?
Optimized Hormones operates as a cash-pay medical practice and does not participate with insurance. We have carefully priced our services and plans to be affordable and comfortable for our patients. The cost of a consultation visit covers patient registration, intake, lab orders, blood draw, and a 60-90 minute consultation with a comprehensive consultation report.
We understand the importance of financial flexibility, and for patients who decide to move forward with our plans, the consultation fees are eligible to be rolled into the plan options. Our focus is on delivering high-quality care and personalized solutions to optimize your health and well-being.
What are bioidentical hormones?
Bioidentical hormones are hormones that are derived from natural sources, such as soy or yams, and are compounded to match the molecular structure of the hormones produced naturally in the human body
How are hormones prescribed?
Bioidentical Hormones are preferred over synthetic hormones and should be prescribed and managed by certified healthcare provider. At Optimized Hormones, hormones are prescribed and managed routinely.
The most common form of hormone therapy prescribed are:
- Pills
- Creams
- Gels

- Injections
Men’s Hormone Health
Is how I’m feeling normal?
Yes, it’s completely normal to feel this way. Starting around age 30, testosterone levels naturally decline by about 1% each year. This gradual loss can lead to symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, low libido, and mood changes, often leaving men feeling “off.”
While it’s a natural part of aging, that doesn’t mean you have to live with these symptoms. Hormone therapy can help restore balance and improve your quality of life.
How soon will I feel the effects of hormone therapy?
Most patients notice significant improvements in energy, mood, and performance within a few weeks, though full results can take longer.
Is BHRT safe for men?
Yes, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is safe when managed by experienced providers. We use advanced diagnostics and regular monitoring to ensure optimal results.
How and where do you insert pellets?
The insertion of pellets is a very simple and relatively painless procedure done under a local topical anesthesia. The pellets are inserted into the flank or buttock through a small incision which is then taped closed.
Experience from an expert hormone practitioner is required, not only for placing the pellets in the proper location, but as well as calculating the proper dosage of hormones to be used. Then, as they release the hormones over time, the pellets completely dissolve on their own. There is no “down-time” and you can be back to your regular daily exercise activity within 48 hours.
Women’s Hormones
How do I know if hormone therapy is right for me?
If you’re experiencing symptoms like fatigue, mood swings, or low libido that are interfering with your quality of life, hormone therapy may be the solution. Our quiz and consultation process can help determine the best path forward.
Is BHRT safe for women?
Yes, bioidentical hormones are chemically identical to those your body produces naturally, making them a safe and effective option when managed by experienced providers.
How quickly will I feel results?
Many women report noticeable improvements in sleep, mood, and energy within a few weeks, though full results may take longer.
PCOS
What is PCOS and how is it diagnosed?
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a prevalent hormonal disorder that primarily affects women of reproductive age. It manifests through a combination of symptoms that may vary in severity from person to person. The diagnosis of PCOS typically involves an assessment of clinical symptoms and medical testing.
Key Symptoms for Diagnosis:
- Irregular Menstrual Cycles: Women with PCOS often experience irregularities in their menstrual cycle due to disruptions in ovulation. These irregularities may include prolonged periods, infrequent periods, or complete absence of periods.
- Excess Androgen Levels: Androgens are often referred to as “male hormones,” though they are present in both males and females. Women with PCOS tend to have higher levels of androgens, which can lead to physical signs such as hirsutism (excessive hair growth on the face and body), severe acne, and thinning hair on the scalp.
- Polycystic Ovaries: An ultrasound may reveal enlarged ovaries containing numerous small cysts along the outer edge of each ovary. It’s important to note that not all women with PCOS will have visible cysts, and having cysts alone does not confirm PCOS.
Diagnostic Tests:
- Hormonal Assessments: Blood tests are crucial for measuring androgen levels to confirm their excess, which supports the diagnosis of PCOS.
Insulin Levels: Insulin resistance is common in PCOS. Elevated insulin levels can exacerbate the production of androgens, thereby intensifying symptoms. Testing for insulin levels helps in assessing this aspect of PCOS and can guide treatment options focused on improving insulin sensitivity.
What are the common symptoms of PCOS?
Common symptoms include irregular or skipped periods, excessive hair growth on the face and body, acne, scalp hair thinning, and weight gain. Some women also experience difficulty in getting pregnant.
How does PCOS affect fertility?
PCOS can lead to infrequent ovulation or a lack of ovulation altogether, which can impact fertility. However, with the right treatment and lifestyle changes, many women with PCOS can achieve a healthy pregnancy.
What lifestyle changes are recommended for managing PCOS?
Can my PCOS be cured?
While there is no cure for PCOS, symptoms can be effectively managed with a combination of medical treatments and lifestyle changes. Many women find significant improvement in their symptoms and overall quality of life with personalized care plans
Supplements
Why should I get my supplements through Optimized Hormones instead of the store?
Store-bought vitamins often lack the rigorous testing and quality control necessary to ensure they deliver results. Many over-the-counter supplements contain low-quality ingredients or fillers that are poorly absorbed by the body, meaning you’re likely not getting the nutrients you need.
At Optimized Hormones, we prescribe clinical-grade supplements that are:
- Backed by Research: Developed and tested for efficacy and safety.
- Personalized: Tailored to your unique lab results and health goals.
- High-Quality: Produced in U.S. facilities that follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) for the highest standards.
With our guidance, you’re not just guessing—you’re investing in supplements designed to work with your body for real, measurable health benefits.
How do I know these supplements will actually work?
Clinical-grade supplements are designed with bioavailable ingredients, which means your body absorbs them more effectively compared to standard store-bought options. For example, studies show that up to 50% of over-the-counter supplements may not meet their label claims, and poor absorption rates mean you’re likely flushing money down the drain.
With our tailored approach, we use advanced lab testing to determine exactly what your body needs and recommend the right supplements in the right doses. This ensures you get the maximum benefit, whether it’s boosting energy, improving sleep, or addressing specific deficiencies.
Are these supplements worth the higher cost?
Absolutely. While clinical-grade supplements may have a higher upfront cost, they deliver better value by:
- Reducing Waste: High-quality ingredients mean your body uses more of the nutrients, making every dollar count.
- Avoiding Risks: Poor-quality supplements can contain contaminants or ineffective fillers, potentially causing harm or providing no benefit at all.
- Improving Outcomes: By targeting your specific deficiencies, you’ll see noticeable improvements in your health faster, reducing the need for trial-and-error purchases.
Investing in clinical-grade supplements ensures you’re spending wisely and prioritizing your long-term health.
What are the risks of taking store-bought supplements?
Many store-bought options are imported from countries with lax regulations or sold through third-party vendors, increasing the risk of:
- Contaminants: Heavy metals, allergens, or harmful additives.
- Mislabeling: Incorrect dosages or missing active ingredients.
- Ineffectiveness: Low-quality forms of nutrients that your body can’t absorb properly.
Choosing clinical-grade supplements eliminates these risks, providing peace of mind that what you’re taking is both safe and effective.
Will these supplements interact with my current medications?
This is why personalized guidance is critical. Our providers review your full health history, current medications, and lab results to ensure your supplement plan is safe and tailored to your needs. Regular monitoring allows us to adjust recommendations as needed, so you can feel confident in every supplement you take.
Weight Loss
How does GLP-1 therapy help with weight loss?
GLP-1 medications like Semaglutide work by reducing appetite, slowing digestion, and enhancing metabolism. This combination makes it easier to lose weight and keep it off sustainably.
How quickly will I see results?
Most patients notice reduced hunger and better energy within the first few weeks. Significant weight loss typically occurs over a period of 3-6 months, depending on your plan.
Is GLP-1 therapy safe?
Yes, GLP-1 therapies are FDA-approved and safe when managed by experienced weight loss providers. At Optimized Hormones, we monitor your progress closely to ensure optimal results and safety.
